Nominations for the 2024 Community Matters Awards are now open
It is our Customers who bring a Community to life - whether they’re taking their neighbour to a class at their leisure centre, supporting the person next door who is finding their first night in a dorm challenging as they start their new university year, or helping a friend make their house a home in one of our neighbourhoods.
Please include as much detail as you can to support your nomination and highlight the values that make them so special.
Here’s a reminder of the Community heroes we celebrated in 2023
Each year we ask Customers to nominate individuals who they felt had gone above and beyond for their Community, provided care and support for others, arranged a great social event or were always on hand when needed.
The celebrations took place at the impressive National Centre of Early Music in York, where 28 truly remarkable individuals were recognised for their dedication to making a difference in their Communities.
From cooking meals for those in need to being a hero in a crisis or simply being there for a chat, it was clear that we have some extraordinary Places for People Customers. It was wonderful to see so many of the nominees bring friends and family along on the day to cheer them on. It created such a warm atmosphere in the room and really highlighted the importance of Community spirit.
Greg Reed, Chief Executive of Places for People, said: “We exist because of our Customers, and we aim to change lives by creating and supporting thriving Communities. It is our Customers who bring a Community to life - whether they’re showing up to a class at their leisure centre, moving into a student accommodation at the start of their new university year, or living in one of our Communities. We wanted to recognise and celebrate those People within our Communities who are going the extra mile, looking out for others, or achieving something exceptional within their area. We are delighted to have been able to celebrate Customers from across our organisation and show them our gratitude for helping create thriving Communities.”
